By Community AdvRegion – Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers has teamed up with the United Way of Tri-County (UTWC) to sponsor the nonprofit’s third annual 5K Run/Walk fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 13. The Jack’s Abby/United Way 5K will have a new home at the Jack’s Abby Craft Lager Brewery and Beer Hall located at 100 Clinton St., in Framingham. With this new home also comes a new route for participants and a new 10 a.m. start time.
The fee to participate is $30 and 100 percent of the proceeds from runner’s registration fee goes directly to a United Way program each runner selects during registration. These include the Pearl Street Cupboard and Café at Park in Framingham, the Marlborough Community Cupboard, the early literacy program Ready to Read, and Call2Talk, the mental health/suicide prevention line of the Mass2-1-1 statewide phone system.
“The Jack’s Abby/United Way 5K is an opportunity for everyone to come out and support the community, have fun, and support local businesses that give back,” said Paul Mina, president and CEO at UWTC. “There are too many children, seniors, veterans, families and individuals going hungry, living with depression, or struggling in school. We are extremely grateful that Jack’s Abby is so generously lending support to this event that will fund critical programs in the region.”
Long sleeve t-shirts will be given to the first 250 runners to register and goodie bags to the first 200 to sign up. Prizes will be awarded after the race to the top male and female in eight age categories as well as the first- and second-place male and female runners overall. Special awards will be presented to top individual fundraiser and team fundraisers. There will also be music, games, and a raffle. Jack’s Abby will offer post-race discounts on a handful of items from their appetizing Beer Hall menu to all runners and walkers, and encourages everyone to stop by for some delicious food and a pint after the race.
